I had Attention Deficit Disorder before doctors knew they could charge to cure it. Little games help me focus on the task at hand. Here's one I made up to start my day on Active Rain. Copy it, and some good things will happen in your Active Rain life. You will...
- get more ideas for your own blogs than you can use.
- accrue 250 points today because Active Rain encourages and rewards interaction among members.
- find blogs that compel you to click the Subscribe button!
- create new relationships with talented writers outside your Active Rain sphere of influence.
...and I promise you'll have a good time doing it! Let's go; this exercize is simple, useful and addictive!
1. Click on Blogs at the top of your home page and choose someone from the list of your "subscribed to" blogs. (If you haven't subscribed to any, go to the top right of this page and hit the Subscribe button. Then come right back.)
I clicked on Dan Forbes from my list to start my scavenger hunt.
2. Choose a post whose subject interests you.
I chose The Origin of Open Houses and Why They DON'T Work Today: The Last Word
3. Read the dang post! I can't tell you how many times I see members commenting on a post, and the content of their comment makes it embarrassingly clear that they didn't read the post. One member (nameless, though I'm tempted) was in such a hurry to get her 25 points/comment that she addressed me as "Paul" and said how meaningful the post was to her. Right! I felt so used...
4. Read the comments, and leave one of your own. (First 10 comments each day build your AR points by 25 each.) After commenting, go back to the one comment that got your attention or got your goat. Click the commenter's name. It will take you to their profile.
Simon Conway is new to me. Here's the part of his comment that made me choose him as the next part of my Scavenger Hunt: " If you still insist on holding them, [open houses]you need your bumps felt (this is probably an English expression and if anyone needs explanation, then feel free to e-mail me). I need what?
5. Click "My Blog" on the next AR member in your Scavenger Hunt and repeat steps one through four!
I told you Simon is new to me. He's a Brit from London who favours the Chelsea Football Club (soccer) and holds season tickets to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NFL.) Simon hosts a radio show each Sunday on WFLA 540 AM, is a boater and a chef, and flys the Stars and Stripes on his website.
I had to subscribe to his blog; I couldn't help myself. Go enjoy an Active Rain Scavenger Hunt! Let me know what you find.
