Barren desert surrounds me. Standing a thousand feet above the desert floor, I peer down from my rocky ledge. Behind me is a sheer granite wall. In front, a thousand foot drop to the desert floor.
Other than that cactus there, it seems that life has shriveled up and baked away in the hot sun. Danger surrounds me. One slip, and I'm done for.
It puts me in mind of our business situation in this market. I have good news, though. There's life in front of us, down on that desert floor, but we just can't see it. It's impossible to focus on something at that distance. We need to get closer, to climb down and walk those arroyos.
That's where the living things flourish. It's where the water flows close to the surface. It's where the danger melts away. It's where opportunity lives.

It would be nice to float off the edge and get there effortlessly. That's not going to happen, though.
It'll take work, but it will be worth it!
