Edit: It's 10:00 p.m. and I was able to upload a photo! Yay!!
I've got some great photos and stories to share from the past week. One in particular... I was walking a desert road on Sunday night, with reflective fabric and a flashlight. There was no moon.
If I see ten cars during a six mile walk, it's a lot. Each time a car approaches, I'll step off the road and shine the flashlight backwards toward the approaching car so I don't get waffled.
Three miles from home in Tucson Mountain Park, I heard a car approach. As I moved off the road, I heard the car slow down. It didn't pass me. Blue and red lights reflected off the surrounding cactus.
"Evening, officer" I said. "I was only going four miles an hour." I was already reaching for my ID.
Another Pima County Sherrif's car approached from in front (we're in the middle of the desert) and made a U-turn and parked behind the first car, whose deupty was running my ID.
I stood there leaning on my walking staff. I heard one deputy call to the other "I'm pretty sure it's not him." I was pretty sure he was right, and I said so.
Turns out that there had been a high speed chase six or eight miles to the west, ending with the car off the road in the desert, and the driver fleeing on foot.
I sure wish I could show you the photo!
