File Guy Is Looking For It... What's That Word?

There's a word for numbers that look like this - they start out one way, reverse in the middle and end up the same way they started.

Words can do that too:  the name "Otto" for instance.

I just can't remember what it's called.  "File guy" has a lot more searching to do in the old brain at 60 than he did thirty years ago.

What's that word?

Serendipity: The Right Place At The Right Time, +/- 1/1,000th of a Second

Bee flying in front of butterfly

Butterfly in my back yard. The bee is in flight, while the butterfly is at rest.  The Texas Ebony trees in our back yard are in bloom, and the fragrant blossoms attract clouds of these translucent pale butterflies.  I was trying to capture a butterfly, and the bee flew into the picture just at the "right" time.

Some business is like that.  Successful transactions that take place because (1) you were prepared, (2) you were in the right place, and (3) you were there at just the right time.

I think it was Zig Ziglar that defined success as the place "where preparation meets opportunity."  I hope your preparation pays off in spades today!

Networking Successfully: The Sonoran Desert Bald Chicken

Sonoran Desert Bald ChickenThat's a Sonoran Desert Bald Chicken.

(I know.  When you think "bald" you think "eagle.")

Bald eagles get all the press--what my friend Colonel Carson calls "NatGeo moments." It's true; when was the last time you saw a bird like this one in National Geographic?

On the other hand, when was the last time you saw a fish-eating eagle reading a self-help book?

This particular Bald Chicken's a nearsighted hen.  Hens and roosters are easy to tell apart:  the rooster of the species has a much larger comb on it's head, and the wattles on each side of the rooster's neck are bright blue.

What Desert Bald Chickens lack in publicity they make up for in their well-developed ability to network with each other to get things accomplished.

Research shows that the hens are especially good at this.  Gathering in groups of twelve, they listen attentively while one hen reads to the rest.

I was fortunate to capture this photo during one of the reading sessions.  (You can see she's in good voice.)

Tune in next time when Ranger Mike investigates the benefits of adopting the business model of the Desert Pack Rat.

Networking & Making Friends: Just Because YOU Don't Like Her...

Photo on Michael Thornton's Active Rain blog

I subscribe to Michael Thornton's blog.  He takes some amazingly beautiful photos, uses color in his text, writes in such a way as to engage his audience, and never, never leaves you bored.

This photo from Michael's contest entry (titled Spring Fresh: ‘Tis Spring - Spring Fresh Contest)  makes my point.

It doesn't matter who you are, or whether you found this page by accident.  You can't look away from that image.

I can think of twelve or more different posts I could write with that photo as the anchor.  I won't do it, though; it's Michael's photo.

I want to know if this is his grandchild, and if so, where Grandma was while Michael was adjusting the focus on his camera.

Click the link and go comment on his post.  Tell him I sent you.  Tell him enquiring minds want to know more...

It's Never Too Early to Get 'Em Hooked On Networking and Blogging!

Saturday morning a group of us (eight strong) got together at the Java Cafe' and Business Center on Ajo at Palo Verde.  We meet weekly to share successes and to keep each other focused on doing business successfully in this difficult time.  It's amazing how ninety minutes on a Saturday morning can get your mind in gear for the upcoming week and keep you on track.

One of our group brought her little guy Isaac.  You can see that he's going to fit right in!

Isaac's going to be a blogger!
