Our community has approximately 600 homes. The topography of the mountainous desert terrain dictated the layout of the roads, and the placement of the homes.
When I say the topography, I mean the washes. Arroyos. Dry creek beds (most of the year.)
2000 S Triangle X Lane backs onto one of those washes. Some homes in the neighborhood close nature out (and civilization in) by erecting walls.
I particularly like this property because the owner did just the opposite.
Fronting on the street, he built a wall and a gate. Opening on to the wash facing Golden Gate Mountain, he deliberately left the property open.

The effect, especially at dawn and at sunset, can be magical.
Desert birds and critters use the washes as their aerial and terrestrial highways.

That saguaro to the left of the birdbath is home to a nesting pair of Gila Woodpeckers.

The interior of the home uses the ribs of saguaro cacti as planking for the ten foot ceilings. The effect is that of bringing nature into the living space. It's warm and inviting.
Outside, the protected corner of the property closest to the wash has it's own outdoor living area.
This is my favorite part of the property, sort of like an "outback room" for outdoor living. What you can't see clearly (because the sun was setting directly toward the camera lens) is the mountain in the top right of the photo.

The outback room is a continuation of the wall that begins at the front of the property, separating this home from its neighbor.
The interior of the home is lovely, but for me, it's the blending of outdoor living space with indoor living space that really sets the property apart from other homes for sale in Tucson Estates 2.
Take a look out the windows and the sliding glass door to see what I mean. There's no barrier between the back yard and the open desert wash.
By now, you're probably wondering what the the home looks like from the street. I've been saving that for last, because the effect of the mountain in the background is the other thing I like best.
