Instead of promoting gloom, death and destruction for the lending and real estate communities, Tucson's Arizona Daily Star Sunday edition led with an above-the-fold title that could just as well been the lead for the National Association of Realtors publication or that of the Arizona Association of Mortgage Brokers!
Paul Slaybaugh, new moderator for Active Rain Addicts, a blog group of the Active Rain Real Estate Network, wrote recently about the challenge in market conditions.
Here's what he said: "Buyers have waited 15 years for the current market conditions, with low interest rates, sagging prices and plentiful inventory. Now that the conditions are ripe for buyers, however, they are afraid to take the plunge. Media, friends, family, the plumber, and the plumber's dog are all telling them that they should wait. I fear that many of these buyers will miss the boat by waiting for the media to flash the klieg light announcing "We have hit bottom! Go buy a house now!" Much like the sellers from a couple of years ago who held on too long, they risk waiting themselves right out of opportune conditions by trying to wring every last price drop out of the market."
Tucson has all the things Paul talks about in that paragraph above.
- Low interest rates
- Attractive prices in many segments of the market
- Great inventory!
- and Buyer Fear

I'm Mike in Tucson. And that's the real estate opinion of this Tucson, Arizona mortgage lender.

Kris, it put a smile on my face too. Thanks for commenting; our readers won't mind at all. It's been awhile since Rhett Butler shocked the world at the foot of the stairway with his famous line "Frankly, my dear..."

I certainly hope the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram sees this! I may just send them this! All we hear is gloom and doom and the Ft. Worth market is awesome! Finally, some good news! Yippee!!
Thanks for giving every one a plug with your comments to check Realtors and lenders! Always the giver you are!
Mike,
Wonderful post on a great story. I just read another that said something to the effect that "some great comes from every makret"...so true.
Thanks for sharing this.
I hope the good news spreads.
Sandy
Thank you for the post! It is great to see someone selling the positives of the current market vs. focusing how the world is coming to an end.
Carpe diem,
Chris Pollinger
Mike, what a neat headline!!
I like the Arizona Daily Star! The arts critic wrote a nice review of one of my concerts there, way back in 1981..
Thank you all for commenting!
Linda, thanks for stopping by! You might want to email it to the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram and follow up with a call to the editor!
Bill and Barbara Jo, what's going on in Florida? Ditto the suggestion to sent to your local paper.
Lynda E, you're an encouragement. In this market, that's the number one thing!
Sandy, see my comment to Linda. Do you know the editor of your local paper in Seattle?
Chris, thanks for commenting! It's easy to sell the positives. You just have to look for them.
Eric, you're a musician! "The arts critic wrote a nice review of one of my concerts there, way back in 1981.." If you've mentioned that in a meme, please post a link back to your meme right here! Enquiring minds want to know.
Adam, that's a high compliment coming from you. Thanks!
Linda S, You're another encourager. I appreciate that!
Sandi, thanks for the comment! Spread the word!
Mike,
I was Principal French Horn in the Tucson Symphony for two years back in the early 1980's. I remember performing Brahms' 2nd Symphony with conductor Alvaro Cassuto and the critic for the Arizona Daily Star was Kenneth LaFave. Ken was kind enough to write a very flattering review about my horn solos in the Brahms. And I didn't even have to bribe him!
Nope, never been meme'd.
Eric,
You have now! I, Mike in Tucson, do publicly and with great anticipation, MEME Eric Kodner, former Principal French Horn in the Tucson Symphony! LOL

Mike, I shouldn't log on when I'm half asleep..coffee hasn't kicked in yet!
I walked right into that one, didn't I? Like a prize fighter with a glass jaw..
Eric, you're a good sport, my friend! I'm looking forward to your MEME!
Gaylen, thanks for commenting. Every market has a silver lining!

Mike,
Great headline and we need a few more of them. All over the place. It's so true that the media has spooked many a buyer so bad that they'll miss the train when it leaves the station. And interest rates keep on dropping. What a buyer's market.
Esko,
It's a buyer's market for sure. Thanks for commenting. Best wishes for the Christmas season in NV!
Paul,
You're worth mentioning! Thanks so much for commenting. (And thanks for moderating AR Addicts!)
