Tucson By Choice!: Attraction is Nature's Marketing Program. Take Notes!

Attraction is Nature's Marketing Program. Take Notes!

Blooms on a Fish Hook Barrel CactusCactus bloom on a Pincushion cactusLook at these two photos.  How can you fail to respond by taking a closer look?

Bees and other pollinators feel the same way.  The end result is success for the plant in the form of fruit.

"By their fruit, you will know them."
Jesus of Nazareth

(If Jesus of Nazareth isn't on your business reading list, revise your list!)

It's interesting that He didn't say "By their flowers..."  After all, the flowers are usually the showy part of the plant's advertising campaign.  (Think cherry blossoms in Washington in the springtime.)

Here's the reason:  Another element is essential before fruit can "set."  Something has to pollinate the fruit!

You have 100,000 potential pollinators for your business right here on the Active Rain Real Estate Network.  Your blog is the flower, and here's the point:

The primary purpose of a Real Estate blog is to attract fruitful relationships.

  • Not to lecture.
  • Not to complain about other bloggers or current market conditions.
  • Not to vent negative emotions to make you feel better.  "So there!!"

Blogging is an extremely effective form of viral marketing.  Check to see if your message is attractive.  Does it make your reader want to get to know you better?  Does it allow your reader to come closer in spite of the thorns we all have in our personalities?  Does the message overshadow the thorns because the message is so very attractive?

NOTE:  Pollinators can't be goaded or driven into doing their job.  They can only be attracted.

Mike I loved your observation, it is ironic that such a strong group would not make your comments as the MOTTO of AR. I am suggesting that we start a grass roots campaign to make this our Goal!! Great Post., Warm regards, Endre

Cameron,

Thanks for commenting.  Here's Wikipedia's definition of viral marketing:  Viral marketing and viral advertising refer to marketing techniques that use pre-existing social networks to produce increases in brand awareness or to achieve other marketing objectives (such as product sales) through self-replicating viral processes, analogous to the spread of pathological and computer viruses. It can be word-of-mouth delivered or enhanced by the network effects of the Internet.

This is how I use Active Rain.  My brand is Mike in Tucson.  My phone rings, and people pay me for my services, because people who I will never meet have learned who I am, what I do, and have told others to call me.  It's a great way to market; it's infectious!

Sharon,

Thanks for stopping by to comment!

Lorena,

That's a beautiful photo!  (Attractive!)  Thanks for coming by.

What a great analogy.  This is a part of life no matter where you are.  Reflecting the Light can attract many.

Enjoyed your photos and the gist of your post Mike.  Sometimes it is hard not to stoop to the level of some here on AR who have a false sense of their own importance, but then in a few hours you see the humor, and unhappiness, in what they [don't] have to say!  And you know I love humor!

I loved the reference to viral marketing, the comment that blogging is not viral marketing, and the response to that. I'm a big Jesus of Nazareth fan, but sometimes I need protection from his followers. That does not seem to be the case in this blog. Thanks.

Once again Mike your words are so gracefully written and yet powerful with out being forceful. You have a serious knack for motivating and speaking to people. I love the comparison of a pollinating AR Community...That is pure genius. Keep up the great work!

Hi.  Great post!!!  I am lucky to work for an office of pollinators!!!  And, there are many areas where I am a great pollinator.  Now I am taking steps to become a better pollinator in mortgages.  Gotta love that word, pollinator.  I am going to think about that all day.

Great post . I could not agree more. One thing that I have found in many cases around the country is that if a person does not have the "tools" to get things done, its easy to complain. In many cases, when the "tools" are provided many dont use them. If they do and still dont get results, then they have no one to blame but themself. Its funny, it does seem that many are "affraid" of the possibility of success. Thanks for good read!

What a great post Mike in Tucson!!  I love to look at the bright side of things.  I am trying to only post about positives, even though the posts on negatives seem to draw the most comments....

I'm still trying to resolve in my own mind that the points don't matter --- it's the Rain...that matters.

you are giving people an oppotunity to build a profile and participate in a great community , with no financial investment , just their time, which these days we all have too much of .. that's all you can do is extend the invite, the rest is up to them, ... something about leading a horse to water..... comes to mind
