Tucson By Choice!: Location, Location, Location! Gate's Pass at Sunset, Tucson, Arizona

Location, Location, Location! Gate's Pass at Sunset, Tucson, Arizona

September sunset with a gathering storm, Gate's Pass, Tucson, AZThere's something about a spectacular sunset that draws us.  Each evening, just before sunset, people from all over the world gather less than a mile from my home in the Tucson Mountains to witness some of the most glorious sunsets on the planet.  The spot is called Gate's Pass.

Setting sun between the Saguaros, Gate's Pass, Tucson, AZHere's a closeup of the setting sun between the saguaro cacti on a September evening.

Spectacular.  I'm inspired to paint a picture of the top one.

Perhaps, when my house guests are gone end of this month.

Absolutely beautiful.  My husband wants to retire to Arizona - I'm SOLD!  Of course he won't retire for another 8.5 years :-)

Mike - the clouds in the first picture remind me of the clouds I saw the morning of 9/11. The sun was just coming up, so the rays were pointed down. I was on the beach early that morning. I was kind of highlighted,  it was beautiful and strange.  I've always thought of those as the angel's slides, kind of like my grandmothers sliding down smiles for me... after my walk, I went back in to prepare for a speech I was to give to agents... I was half watching CNBC when I saw the planes hit.  Instead of financing, I talked about that walk, and the clouds, and my grandmothers that day with the agents. I've often thought about being comforted by the beauty in the heavens on a day that was so sad.  Thanks.
