There's something about a spectacular sunset that draws us. Each evening, just before sunset, people from all over the world gather less than a mile from my home in the Tucson Mountains to witness some of the most glorious sunsets on the planet. The spot is called Gate's Pass.
Here's a closeup of the setting sun between the saguaro cacti on a September evening.
And another of the gathering storm from the perspective of the ramada at Gate's Pass, overlooking the valley floor below.
If you like what you see, there are a few lovely homes in our community of Tucson Estates II. I can recommend some great agents if you don't already have one. Call me, and let's talk.

Spectacular. I'm inspired to paint a picture of the top one.
Perhaps, when my house guests are gone end of this month.
Absolutely beautiful. My husband wants to retire to Arizona - I'm SOLD! Of course he won't retire for another 8.5 years :-)
MIKE - These sunset photos are amazing. The second one looks like the sky is on fire.
Adam,
That's just what I thought when I took the photo!
Karen,
Show him the post; it's never too early to buy your retirement home!

Wow Mike ... simply beautiful shots! I've always said that as soon as Az gets an ocean ... I'm there!
It sure is tempting with winter coming soon, you should be see a few more snow birds this year!
Mike - those are absolutely fantastic photos - and very inspiring for someone considering the area. Great post!
Mike - the clouds in the first picture remind me of the clouds I saw the morning of 9/11. The sun was just coming up, so the rays were pointed down. I was on the beach early that morning. I was kind of highlighted, it was beautiful and strange. I've always thought of those as the angel's slides, kind of like my grandmothers sliding down smiles for me... after my walk, I went back in to prepare for a speech I was to give to agents... I was half watching CNBC when I saw the planes hit. Instead of financing, I talked about that walk, and the clouds, and my grandmothers that day with the agents. I've often thought about being comforted by the beauty in the heavens on a day that was so sad. Thanks.
Wow.
OH MY...AMAZING!! Simply amazing!
GBU, Mike!
Elizabeth,
What beauty surrounds us all! God bless you too.
Cheryl,

Yet another stunning photo essay, Mike - isn't it great to be a Tusconan?
Hi Mike,
Absolutely spectacular! Did you shoot these yourself? If so, I'd sure watermark them.
Lynda,
Yes. How do I do that?
Kent,
We sure live in a beautiful place, don't we?!
