Back in the early 1960s, my parents could have picked a South American country where Spanish was the national language.
It would have stood me in good stead here in Tucson, sixty miles from the Mexican border.
Instead, they chose to move us, kit and caboodle, to the only country on that great continent where Dutch is spoken.
Goede nacht, vrienden. See? It doesn't do much for me here in Tucson.
If you've never visited this corner of the country, put it on your list of things you must do before you croak.
Tucson is magic. Look at that night sky! There's no place on earth like Tucson, Arizona.
It's utterly captivating.

I think that cactus is giving me the finger? How am I supposed to feel welcome with that guy waving at me,lol.
My next painting will have the title of "Tucson Nights".
Mike, You are right. I took several pictures of the night sky during one of my trips to AZ. I am saving my $$ to make another trip most likely in Jan of next year. Want to go to the Tucson area for a few days...

Hi there Mike, night time is the right time!!
Mike,
You have a way with the camera to bring your corner of the globe to life.
Mike,
It is amazing where the dutch have settled over the years. They are a hardy group of folk...
"kit and caboodle" I love that phrase and as far Tuscon, I do like the desert in small doses, it's beautiful in a stark way! I have also been to Holland where Dutch is spoken and thought it was remarkably beautiful too! Best of the week to you!
Russell,
Tulips are what come to mind when I think of the Dutch. Those, and blue and white china.
Paul,
They sure are!
Don,
Thanks for stopping by to say so!
Susie,
I'm something of a night owl.
Michael,
Call before you come.
Lenn,
I look forward to seeing it!
Robert,
Thanks for being the first to comment. It's a friendly salute. :)

Mike,
I keep repeating "we find what we seek" you may be my best example. The beauty of the lone sequoia in the dark night sky evades so many. I like the dog in the window, too! Little things that make you smile make the day go so much better,
Thanks!
Bill
Mike--I agree with you...Of all the places I visited traveling there was something about Tucson that sticks with me. I can't capture the memory in words but the place was beautiful!
Teri,
It sure is! Thanks for stopping by.
Bill,
I love your phrase. We find what we seek. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Have been hearing lately about a lot of folks headed to Tucson from here to take a break from our winter....
Mikw - Great picture. I don't speak anything but southern. Good luck with your Spanish.
You would fit right in here in west Michigan it doesn't get much more Dutch than Holland Michigan.
Terry,
Like they say, "If you ain't Dutch, you ain't much." LOL
Larry,
Gracias, amigo!
Ann,
I hope you're one of the "lots of folks." Call us.

One look at that picture and you sold me!
put it on your list of things you must do before you croak. LOL... consider it done my friend!
Jesse,
We're looking forward to your visit!
Bruce,
Aren't photos powerful? Ditto my comment to Jesse!

Hey Mike, Let me know when everyone gets there! I'll be right down. That is a cool painterly looking photo. Gotta chat with you about it.
Doreen,
Painterly isn't a word I see often. Are you an artist? Call any time.
